Hybrids
Hybrid Elm

Varies with variety
Since the outbreak of Dutch Elm disease in the United States, hybridizers
have been working to find a replacement for the stately American Elm which once
adorned the landscape. The newest hybrids show good growth habit as well
as rabid growth and ability to grow in most soils. Newer varieties include
"cathedral" Elm, which is round headed and reaches a height of 45',
and 'Discovery' Elm which exhibits the upright, vase shaped form that made
American Elm a favorite yard tree
